Chief Hibbs is proud to announce that JPD has established a Community Violence Intervention Program (CVIP). We recently selected both Officer Hester and Officer Mornes to lead the program. Both officers are service-driven and community minded when it comes to taking care of our community and our youth. The goal of CVIP is to reduce violence, interrupt cycles of retaliation, and enhance public safety. Our CVI Officers will work with community partners such as the Pastoral Alliance, counselors, and mentors. As officers, we often encounter at‑risk youth or young adults who appear to be heading down a dangerous path. For many years, we have sought a way to intervene before violence changes the course of their lives. These CVI Program Officers serve in Patrol and will identify individuals who may benefit from intervention and connect them with helpful resources. We are excited to take this important step forward for our community.
